Wandsworth Common
Playground
A proposal for a natural playscape for Wandsworth Council. Lady Allen Adventure Playground sits alongside the site. We wanted to take inspiration form some of her theories in play design - in particular her attitude to risk.
We wanted at the centre of the deign to be the highest possible (4m) free climb without barriers. This could be achieved with a web system of ropes that create a highly challenging risky climb but with an obstructed safe fall.
A live build pavilion project with Chelsea College of Arts Spatial Design students, installed at the Tate Britain.
Nature Audit
2019
A co-research project led while working with muf architecture/art.
The Royal Dock Learning and Activity Centre in North Woolwich had received funding from the neighboring London City Airport to increase biodiversity in the public spaces of North Woolwich dominated by industry and infrastructure. The brief for planting and new meadow creation was informed by a community biodiversity audit of the local area. An audit ‘kit’ was developed to allow young people and adults to conduct field research and collect data.
The local bingo club invited us to audit biodiversity in the back gardens. We utilised their electronic bingo machine to generate random grid square numbers to sample the landscape in an un-biased way
