Wandsworth Common
Playground
A proposal for a natural playscape for Wandsworth Council. Lady Allen Adventure Playground sits alongside the site. We wanted to take inspiration form some of her theories in play design - in particular her attitude to risk.
We wanted at the centre of the deign to be the highest possible (4m) free climb without barriers. This could be achieved with a web system of ropes that create a highly challenging risky climb but with an obstructed safe fall.
A live build pavilion project with Chelsea College of Arts Spatial Design students, installed at the Tate Britain.
Meadownet
2022
A series of experiments during the Ranch Residency in Lithuania. Together with UCA Canterbury students, we conducted a series of experiments exploring how to integrate play into natural surroundings.
One standout feature of the site was its rich array of natural sounds. To better experience this, we attached cones to tubes, creating a device that allowed for closer listening. This led to the creation of a network of tubes across the meadow, with cones transmitting various sounds to listening points nestled among the blossom layer. Additionally, we built a raised gallery for an overhead perspective.
